Harold W. Gehman, Jr.
With 35+ years of active duty in the U.S. Navy, Admiral Gehman retired after serving as NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, Atlantic, and as the Commander-in- Chief of the U.S. Joint Forces Command. Since joining our Board, he has served as Co-chairman of the DoD investigation into the terrorist attack on the USS Cole, and as Chairman of the Space Shuttle Columbia Accident Investigation Board. He was also appointed by the President to the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission.
Kim E. Petersen
Kim Petersen is president of TranSystems Security Line of Business and has over 25 years of experience in domestic and international security and anti-terrorism activities. His post-graduate studies have included attendance at the Harvard Business School and his civilian career has included senior staff positions with former US Secretaries of State Kissinger and Haig. He has also served as a senior staff member in the White House, US Senate, US Defense Department in the areas of national security and intelligence, and is a former Captain in the Army's Special Forces.
William M. Lackey
Mr. Lackey was elected to the Board of Directors in 2004 as an outside Director. He began his career with the Kansas Highway Commission. At the Kansas Department of Transportation, he has served as District Engineer; Bureau Chief of Construction and Management; Division Director of Operations; and Assistant Secretary and State Transportation Engineer. He has served on numerous transportation committees and boards, and he has received national recognition for work in the field.
David B. Ladner
Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Ladner brings 30+ years of experience in regional and national transportation to the Board. A member since 1994, he is also in charge of the Shippers and Distributors market sector, and established the Rail Market Sector in 1994. Past positions include: positions at the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, the Burlington Northern Railroad, and the ICC. He serves on the Board of Advisors of the Transportation Center at Northwestern University, and the Governing Board of Directors of the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation.
Brian G. Larson
A 29-year veteran of our firm, Mr. Larson serves as President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of TranSystems. He actively guides strategic decisions and initiatives, growing the firm from its boutique origins to its current position as one of the nation's top transportation industry service firms. Mr. Larson's experience spans all aspects of transportation capital programming, planning, design and construction management. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the University of Kansas School of Engineering.
James E. Martin
A Board member since 1996, Mr. Martin's expertise is in business development, mergers and acquisitions, and personnel recruitment. In his 51+ years with the railroad industry, he served as Vice President of Operations at Lehigh Valley Railroad and Sr. Vice President of Operations at Rock Island, among others. During the privatization of The National Railroad of Mexico, he formed the Mexico City Terminal Company. He has served on many Boards of Terminal Switching Companies and Class 1 Railroads, and represented the rail industry before the Transportation Committees of the House and Senate.
Angela E. Murphy
Ms. Murphy joined the company in 2005, assuming the posts of Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Secretary/Treasurer of the company's Board of Directors. She is a Certified Public Accountant and previously held leadership positions at Sprint Corporation and GE Insurance Solutions. She is active in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Finance Executives International.
Robert J. (Rocky) Spane
A 34-year career Naval Officer, Admiral Spane served as the Commander Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet. From1997-2001, he served as Chairman and CEO of Vanguard Airlines. Under his leadership, the company doubled both fleet and revenues, and grew into a coast-to-coast carrier. In 2001, Admiral Spane successfully spearheaded management transition plans with Frontier Airlines. He is currently Chairman, San Diego Unified Port Authority; SIGABA Inc. board member, and a Member of the Homeland Security Advisory Committee.
